The Stories We Carry

Hi everyone,

Recently, we attended an event at the Randallstown Library featuring authors sharing books centered around different mental health experiences and themes.

Two authors especially stood out. Marissa D'Angelo shared about her memoir, Chasing Time, a story exploring the complicated relationship with a loved one struggling with addiction. The author spoke about wanting readers to remember that people experiencing addiction are still deeply valuable, caring people, and that addiction is not a moral failing.

Another author, Dina Sokal, shared short stories offering intimate glimpses into everyday life—the beauty, challenges, joy, and pain woven into ordinary moments. Her stories felt honest and deeply human.

What I appreciated most was the vulnerability each author brought to the space. Whether sharing personal experiences or speaking about topics close to their heart, their openness created connection. I left feeling grateful to have heard real stories told with honesty and care.

Creativity and storytelling can be powerful tools for mental health. They allow us to explore our own narratives, reflect on our experiences, and sometimes find healing, growth, or even renewal through the process.

At Fresh Perspective Therapy, LLC, we believe conversations like these matter.

If you’d like to continue exploring topics related to mental health and emotional well-being, we invite you to join our Thursday evening drop-in group at 7 PM. The first session is always free. Join our interest list anytime here!

Warmly,
Fresh Perspective Therapy, LLC

Hello, I recently heard a phrase on NPR that caught my attention: “ Let’s burn it down. Why are we playing by different rules? The conversation was about political polarization, but the sentiment made me think about something much closer to home: our relationships. Sometimes we reach a point where we feel like the balance in a relationship isn't fair. Maybe we feel that our needs aren't being considered, that we're giving more than we're receiving, or that the same expectations don't seem to...
