Fresh Perspectives: Smashing Stigma Together

Hi everyone,

On Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, we had the privilege of attending NAMI Maryland's Walk for Mental Health Awareness in Thurmont. It was a powerful reminder of what community truly means.

Being surrounded by others who are open, compassionate, and willing to have real conversations about mental health was both grounding and inspiring. There’s something special about connecting with people face-to-face, out in nature, and sharing stories that remind us none of us are alone in what we experience.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was watching my son hit a piñata—symbolizing the act of breaking stigma. When it burst open, it was filled with celebration: toys, candy, and stickers carrying messages like “Keep Going.” It felt like a perfect reflection of what happens when we challenge stigma—we make space for hope, encouragement, and connection.

We also had the opportunity to engage with community members who are passionate about improving mental health support for everyone. When mental health challenges are addressed collectively, we all benefit—and fewer people have to struggle in silence.

At Fresh Perspective Therapy, LLC, we believe these conversations matter. That's why we're hosting a virtual event:

Hi everyone, It’s no wonder many of us look forward to Labor Day—a chance to pause, step away from our usual responsibilities, and simply have some time off. Our lives can become very structured. There are places to be, things to accomplish, people to care for, and endless lists of things waiting to be done. Even our free time can sometimes feel like another opportunity to be productive. But what happens when we allow ourselves some unstructured time? Time without a task or an expected...

Hello, I recently heard a phrase on NPR that caught my attention: “ Let’s burn it down. Why are we playing by different rules? The conversation was about political polarization, but the sentiment made me think about something much closer to home: our relationships. Sometimes we reach a point where we feel like the balance in a relationship isn't fair. Maybe we feel that our needs aren't being considered, that we're giving more than we're receiving, or that the same expectations don't seem to...

Hi everyone, Recently, we attended an event at the Randallstown Library featuring authors sharing books centered around different mental health experiences and themes. Two authors especially stood out. Marissa D'Angelo shared about her memoir, Chasing Time, a story exploring the complicated relationship with a loved one struggling with addiction. The author spoke about wanting readers to remember that people experiencing addiction are still deeply valuable, caring people, and that addiction...
